A friend recommended this years ago, and I still grab it and flip through it. Parenting a middle schooler can make even a simple conversation feel miserable. There is so much misunderstanding. This book gives you language and timing that meet parents and kids where they actually are. I joke that it's the book that made me not hate being my teen's chauffeur. Those car rides are a critical window to connect. Nobody has to look at each other, the conversation can be short, and then you can turn the music back on or hop out of the car. I like Michelle Icard's BRIEF framework and how she applies it to friendship drama, sexuality, technology, stress, and money. It helps set expectations for what these conversations can look like—even with kids who don't talk much. Zero shame, zero judgment, and a focus on building the long-term relationship.

Not sure if this is what you need?

We’ll talk through what’s going on and figure out whether this kind of support makes sense.
