Another book I loved! At first, I wondered whether the title fit families like mine, where worries about the future aren't always about conventional achievement. But maybe what I think of as achievement for my child is simply different. This book changed how I think about what our kids need from us: mattering. That deep sense that they matter to the people around them because of who they are. I appreciated the practical ideas for talking about school without adding pressure and creating small rituals of connection and belonging. Two ideas really stayed with me: getting kids involved in helping their community, and writing them a yearly letter about the qualities we value in them. Their curiosity, compassion, passions, and habits deserve to be noticed. I also loved the reminder that asking for and accepting help models being part of a community.

Not sure if this is what you need?

We’ll talk through what’s going on and figure out whether this kind of support makes sense.
