This book is short enough to read in one sitting and, to me, almost like poetry. Its questions about spinning, noticing the world, and jumping stayed with me. When I revisited it, I found an email I'd sent a friend twelve years earlier. I had written that I couldn't stop thinking about it, that it left me with mixed feelings, and that it had given me a little more patience. Finding that message from my earlier parenting self floored me. Twelve years later, I was still thinking about the book. There is controversy around how it was produced, which I noted in my original review. What I keep returning to personally is the importance of connection and community. Having people who understand your family can feel like a shorthand. I wanted to invite my autistic teenager to read it and share his own thoughts, too.
